Almost two thirds of tenants have reported problems getting their deposits back from landlords - according to a new survey.
It comes at a time when the number of properties available to rent has dropped by 40 percent, as students prepare to return to college next month.
The Union of Students in Ireland is encouraging anyone with spare rooms to rent them out - and for students to consider digs as an option.
