Win Vicky's Farm!
This was an email we received from Vicky Heslop…
“Dear Jenny & Ray,
I have a 55acre farm snuggled into the foothills of the Comeragh/Knockmeal Mountains on the border of Waterford and Tipperary. The farmhouse is a stone cottage with 4 bedrooms, which I have spent the last 29 years upgrading into a relaxed and comfortable space. It is sited on the edge of a road that has about 6 vehicles a day passing, and looks out over the Tipperary plain. you helped me back in the summer to find a happy home for my Moile cow Clover, I hope you can now help me again by using radio to find someone (or a couple or family) who wants to 'have a go' at farming."
"I have tried to find someone for over 2 years and I know there must be some other idiot like me out there but I can't find the right way to get in touch with them. That person can have the use of my farm for an agreed period of time (say 5yrs to start with), in return for giving me a percentage of the earnings of the anaerobic digester business, and caring about the place. This would leave them a good income from the digester and plenty of opportunities to make money from the farm too as there are other enterprises on it that can earn an income too."
We invited people to enter a competition with the chance of running Vicky's Farm and the final three couples paid a visit and stayed overnight with Vicky. The final decision was left up to Vicky and she chose the lovely Sophie and Scott from Skibbereen, so congratulations to them both!
