The last Last Splash…

It all started in May 2003 and my first song was Gigantic by my favourite band of all time the Pixies…. I remember the moment well. A lot has changed since then and the show grew from strength to strength all thanks to you.
My mandate has always been to support new and upcoming Irish talent and I must have done well over 200 sessions across the past seven and a half years. (Well our engineer Gavin Blake did.) Josh Ritter, The Flaws, Bell X 1 and Delorentos all stopped by before they went on to much greater things.
Also I was certainly afforded the opportunity to talk to some of my musical hero’s over the past number of years. Off the top of my head some of them were….
PJ Harvey (I was really really nervous for that one), Frank Black (about four times), Kim and Kelly Deal, Arcade Fire, Bloc Party, The Killers, Ron Sexsmith, Interpol, The National, New Order, Frames, Fiery Furnaces, Kirsten Hersh, Pavement, Grant Lee Buffalo, Gary Newman, Supergrass, Elbow, Magic Numbers, Radiohead, Bob Mould, Lou Barlow, The Strokes, The Wannadies, Melissa Auf Der Maur, Ash, Yo La Tengo, Weezer, Lykke Li, Florence and the Machine, TV on the Radio, Band of Horses, Broken Social Scene, Flaming LIps, Mudhoney, Queens of the Stone Age (I was a little drunk for that one)and the list goes on and on. Some of which you will hear pieces of this coming Sunday October 31st.
So many many thanks for all your messages and texts over the years and now I must concentrate on doing my best on the early morning breakfast show weekdays 5-7am. Onwards and upwards!
