The Niall Mellon Township Trust

Phil Cawley is paying a visit to South Africa to see the Niall Mellon Township Trust in action in South Africa.

950 volunteers have headed out to the township of Wallacedene this week for Blitz Week 2009.  Over the course of the week the charity hopes to handover 200 houses to dramatically change the lives of families in the township who currently live in shacks with no running water, sanitation or electricity.

Phil Cawley is there during the Building Blitz to see just how they manage all of this great voluntary work and he'll be reporting into the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show each morning as well as his own Saturday afternoon slot, to tell us all about the great work the volunteers are getting done

Phil will also be posting regular audio clips to this page where you can hear him chatting to many of the Irish volunteers involved in this year's projects, so check back regularly.
