Storms continue to batter coastal areas

4,000 homes around the country are without power this morning as high winds continue to batter the country.

Westport Co Mayo, Ennis Co Clare, Bunclody Co Wexford, Clara in Co Offaly and Cahersiveen in Co Kerry the worst affected.

ESB Netowk crews are working to restore supply to all areas.

Meanwhile, Met Éireann is warning of more coastal flooding in the West and South today - with high seas and winds forecast.

In Galway - the Corrib has broken its banks near the Spanish Arch.

People are being advsed to stay clear of exposed coastal areas.
