GRA president says the force is 'operating on fumes'

The President of the Garda Representative Association says Gardaí are "operating on fumes" when it comes to manpower and resources.

The deadline for applications for the latest Garda recruitment drive is midnight tonight.

300 positions are being made available in the first recruitment campaign since 2009.

Already more than 20,000 have expressed an interest in the positions with hundreds more last minute applicants expected today
