Some councillors say SF would hijack role

Newly elected Dublin City Councillors are to discuss whether Sinn Fein should hold the office of Lord Mayor in 2016 - the centenary of the Easter Rising.

The role is usually rotated amongst parties and Sinn Fein is due to elect one of its members as Dublin's first citizen.

Sinn Fein is now the largest party in the 63 seat council - with 16 councillors - but some councillors have claimed they will hijack the 100th anniversary celebrations in 2016.

Dan Griffin from the Irish Times has been following the story and I spoke to him a short time ago;
