TITANIC star Kate Winslet fled Sir Richard Branson's Caribbean home yesterday as it was engulfed by flames.

Kate helped carry his 90-year-old mum to safety after lightning hit the mansion on his £90million island Necker.

Branson, who was staying in a villa nearby, yesterday likened Kate's dramatic rescue to a scene from one of her Hollywood blockbusters and thanked Kate.

Kate was in the 14-bedroom Great House with her children Mia, ten, and Joe, seven, when the storm struck.

Branson's daughter Holly, 29, was among others in the house. His son Sam, 26, and nephew Jack helped about 20 guests to safety.

Victoria Beckham in flats

The woman who once claimed to shun the gym because “she couldn’t run in heels”,  and “couldn’t concentrate” unless clad in six-inch stilettos, is under doctors orders to wear flats.

It means poor Posh – who slipped a disc following the birth of daughter Harper Seven four weeks ago – will have to showcase her hotly anticipated Spring/Summer 2012 collection at New York Fashion Week in comfy footwear.

Although her heel-wearing wasn’t the cause of her back problems, stilettos don’t help her condition. Victoria has been frantically surfing the web for an acceptable pair of flats, ones which don’t make her look like a golf club.

George Michael last night admitted for the first time he has split from partner Kenny Goss

In an emotional outburst at a concert in Prague, George said: "In truth, Kenny and I have not been together for two-and-a-half years.

"My love life has been more turbulent than I've let on. I'm so sad about Kenny."

It is thought the Texan businessman Kenny tired of the Freedom singer's wayward lifestyle after 15 years together.

George denied the split after The Sun broke the story, even phoning a TV show to call it "bulls***".

Jedward's Celebrity Big Brother Antics

Jedward have emerged as the most irksome with fellow contestant Darryn Lyons launching into a rant about the Irish duo.

The paparazzo was angry with the twins for failing to clean up after themselves and bizarrely claimed they had ‘the attention spans of a mosquito bite.’

Refusing to call the pair by their widely accepted portmanteau Jedward, Lyons named them ‘Bitsy and Bobsy’

Other housemates in this year’s revamped competition include Kerry Katona, TOWIE’s Amy Childs and wife to the Speaker of the House of Commons Sally Bercow.
