About Anton Savage: Anton has been a petrol-head since the age of six - when he learned to drive! Since then he’s driven all sorts of cars, bikes, boats and quads. He’s also aged (badly). The list of vehicles includes superbikes, race-cars, muscle cars and a long line of decrepit relics (the ones he bought instead of borrowing.). He’s done advance driver training with the Skip Barber race school in the States and races Formula Sheane in Ireland with the Sheane Cars factory team. His interest in the oily bits of cars began with a 1973 Alfasud which he attempted to keep alive. He failed. But it led to his theory that there is nothing you cannot do with a vise-grips and a roll of duct tape. He also recently re-built a three-cylinder diesel tractor (badly – but the manual was in Chinese).

The Prize: With thanks to Mondello International Racing Circuit Anton has been given the chance to enter a 'wildcard' into their upcoming 'Become a Racing Driver For A Year.. For Free' competition, where they'll be put through their paces at the Mondello circuit to see if they've what it takes to race competitively...

NOTE: The details below are for the overall winner at Mondello, our lucky listener will be a wildcard entrant into this contest - DEADLINE NOW CLOSED FOR LAST WORD ENTRANTS. So if you’ve entered already, we may be in touch with you during the week!!

The prize will be a fully funded season of Formula Vee races in a 'Sheane' car at Mondello Park in 2011 and will include:

- Use of a Sheane Formula Vee car for all of the 2011 Formula Vee Championship Races at Mondello Park.
- The car will be transported, prepared and run at at all race events and test days by the Sheane factory.
- Motorsport Ireland Race Licence Course, required to be completed by all new competitors.
- Track Time on official Mondello Park test days.
- All Entry Fees.
- All required Safety Clothing and Crash Helmet to keep.
- Driver Coaching on test days.
- A chance to upgrade to a Formula Sheane car for the Leinster Trophy races, subject to performances during the season.

The Total Value of this fantastic prize is estimated at well over €15,000. As the prize includes coaching & testing it is difficult to put a value on it, but it does represent an unprecedented opportunity to get the sort of start in motor racing that money normally cannot buy.
