Dogs Trust is paws-ing the re-homing of dogs over the Christmas period.
It's in an effort to stop people getting puppies as presents.
The charity saw a 30% rise in people looking to give up their dog in January this year, with the main reason being that owners didn't have enough time to give.
Dogs Trust received 2,840 surrender requests this year, with 897 of those calls and emails in the first three months of 2018.
The last rehoming day will be 16th December 2018 and the charity will restart adoptions again on 5th January 2019.
Ciara Byrne from Dogs Trust says Christmas isn't a good time to get a new pet: 'Christmas is just so busy, you've guests coming into the house. All that excitement can be very overwhelming for a new puppy. There's trees and decorations which can be hazardous and maybe even chocolate lying around which is toxic for dogs.
Today, we announced we will suspend the rehoming of dogs from our Rehoming Centre over the festive period to prevent people rushing out to get a dog for Christmas. Christmas is not a good time to take on a new dog, especially a puppy.
