A low temperature alert remains in place until ten o'clock this morning.
Met Eireann issued the status yellow warning as sub zero temperatures returned to parts of the country overnight.
The weather is to remain settled over the coming days but another icy blast is due to hit this weekend.
Forecaster Liz Walsh says it could lead to some snow next week, 'Turning very cold from Sunday night onward with an increased threat of wintry precipitation in the east.'
