Police in the North are responding to a report of an abandoned vehicle in Co Derry.

The PSNI are advising people to avoid Northland Road, close to the Glenbank Road junction.

Meanwhile there are also road closures in parts of Belfast due to the discovery of a suspicious object.

This is affecting the Springfield Road and Lanark Way in the north of the city.

Earlier a second security alert was in place in Co Derry, after a delivery driver’s vehicle was hijacked by four masked men at 1:45pm.

One of them was reported to have had a gun.

Two occupants of the van were ordered to drive it to the Lonemoor Road and leave it there.

A controlled explosion was carried out on the vehicle in the Circular Road area.

A number of homes were also evacuated.

Northern Ireland Secretary Karen Bradley has said there's no plan to change the threat level.

Her comments come two days after a car bomb exploded outside a courthouse in Derry city centre.
