We Salute The Weird but Wonderful Irish Businesses
#Funnybusiness is back and it aims recognises the weird and wonderful Irish businesses. You probably won't stumble across any of the featured unique business ideas, unless you require their services as you probably never even knew most of these existed. But, in towns all around the country, businesses that do some very unusual things are meeting the needs of their clients and making a profit while they're at it.
Parfumarija, based in the Westbury Mall in Dublin city centre, is a newly liberated territory for all perfume lovers, a land free of any taboos and preconceptions. A place where perfume is art and perfumers have free reign. And, they wanna shake things up. It's the only free-thinking store like this in Ireland that truly original fragrances can be born, the ones that will undoubtedly make us gasp not only because of the provocativeness of their concepts but because of the staggering innovation of their beautiful and unusual composition. Parfumarija caught our attention for stocking scents like Etat Libre d’Orange’s bête noire, Secretions Magnifique which both smell great, but when people are told what the notes represent they start to have second thoughts.
Other Parfumarija collections selected for their adventurous spirit and unconventional approach include Ys-Uzac, a Swiss niche perfume brand by perfumer Vincent Micotti; and Agonist, a Swedish range with six unisex perfumes, each characterised by a finely balanced combination of natural fragrances.
Store owner, Marija Aslimoska(formerly a nurse) was classically trained in Grasse, the historic home of perfume in the South of France, and has been described as an exciting fresh talent in the creation and selection of scents. Marija’s ambition is to change the way Irish people perceive fragrance, taking individuals on a journey of discovery into niche perfume, she says.
