So today, Wednesday, the 20th of September, was the day the Breakfast team, the whole of Today Fm, and the entire nation had been waiting for.

No.25 Fitzwilliam Place was the venue - the red carpet was laid, the flowers arranged, we had the room packed with brides, and our own two heroes, Iano and Mario, all dolled up for their Dare To Care on Wedding Dress Wednesday.

Ian was one of the most beautiful brides we have ever seen *wipes tear from eye*, as he actually pulled off the look alarmingly well (and felt very comfortable in it all I might add). He stole the show as he made his entrance...

But what would a bride be without her Maid of Honour?? Ian hand chose Joan Burton, not only for her hen party skills, but also for the way she's always by his side - as a constant support.

Have a listen to some of her kind words today:

And girl does she know how to burst into a room...

Joan wasn't the only famous face there to lend a hand in proceedings though, as Lisdoonvarna lover, Christy Moore called in to wish him well and sing a special cover version of Taylor Swift's latest cracker - "Look What You Made HIM Do".

You can listen to all the Christy magic here:

One of the most important elements to a wedding day, in our opinion, is the music. We've been to many's a ceremony and if the singer is crowing, and the song choices a bit dodge - it can really have an effect on the flow.

No such problems for Iano's big day though as we were honoured to have the "warm chocolate" voice (as described by one of the lovely brides) of Declan O'Rourke fill the room.

Here he is with our own beaut of a bride @sweetpeamac (it's actually Mrs.D now),

Declan's first track was his own beautiful creation, 'Galileo' - which had the crowd like putty in his hands. He then blew our socks off even more with a rendition of one of my favourite songs ever, 'Unchained Melody'. I may or may not have cried...

Here's where you can catch Declan around Ireland this December:

  • Fri 1st  - Hotel Ballina, Co.Mayo
  • Sat 2nd - Blackbox, Galway
  • Thurs 7th - Westport Town Hall, Co.Mayo
  • Fri 8th - St. John's Theatre, Listowel, Co.Kerry
  • Sat 9th - St. Lukes, Cork City
  • 14th - Vicar Street, Dublin
  • 15th - Dolan's Warehouse, Limerick
  • 22nd - The Hawkswell Theatre, Sligo

WHAT - A - DAY!! But there's lots more work to do...
