James Blunt is like Marmite, you either love hime or loath him, but as the years pass more and more people are becoming fans of the ex-English soldier turned singer/songwriter.

Blunt is gearing up to release his next album The Afterlove which will feature collaborations with Ed Sheeran.

The pair are mates and were both recently out with Princess Beatrice (also a friend) when Ed ended up with a very visible scar on his cheek following an alleged incident with a knighting sword.

James joined Dermot & Dave this morning and acted very coy when the lads asked him about what happened that night, "I think it's absolute rubbish, the guy must be desperate to sell records if that's what he's coming up with.

The notion that any member of the royal family isn't a dab hand with a sword is ridiculous.

The simple answer is that he fell over while he was drinking too much and cut himself and now he's trying to make a big deal about it."

James is well known for being a bit of a legend on Twitter, it's where he feels he can fight back against the abuse he gets on a daily basis.

However, his tweets have been causing a bit of an issue with his record label, who have told him to stop, but James has refused to and in his own words, "it's too late now!"

The singer joked, "my record label started my twitter account for me, hoping I would use it to promote my music and instead I've used it not NOT promote my label and to abuse people."

James also spoke about the late great Carrie Fischer, who he says was "the most remarkable woman in the world, an inspiration."

James met Carrie in Notting Hill, just after he'd left the army. He told her he was about to record an album after securing a record deal and she replied with, "Well you're going to need a place to live so come and live with me."

James says it was the most insane time, "It was a mad house really and that's why my first album was called Back To Bedlam, because I lived there when I recorded it."

James joined Dermot & Dave for a chat and you can listen to it in full here:
