Two hundred and twenty five people were caught speeding on National Slow Down day yesterday.
The most notable incident was a vehicle doing 177km/h in a 100km/h zone on the N13 near Letterkenny, Co. Donegal.
Others included someone travelling at 120km/h in a 80km/h zone in Carbury, Co.Kildare and another driving at 171km/h in a 120km/h Zone on the M7 at Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.
Gardai and GoSafe checked the speed of over 140-thousand vehicles during the 24 hour period.
