The Islamic State group says it inspired yesterday's terrorist attack in London.

Police have named 52 year old Khalid Masood as the man they believe was behind the incident.

The British Prime Minister Theresa May says the suspect, among the four people killed, was British-born and known to the police.

The fourth person killed was a US tourist from Utah who was in Europe celebrating his 25th wedding anniversary.

Kurt Cochran's wife was also seriously injured.

FAMILY STATEMENT - Kurt Cochran

"Our family is heartbroken to learn of the death of our brother- and son-in-law, Kurt W. Cochran, who was a victim of Wednesday's terrorist attack in London. Kurt was a good man and a loving husband to our sister and daughter, Melissa. They were in Europe to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary, and were scheduled to return to the United States on Thursday. Melissa also received serious injuries in the attack, and is being cared for in the hospital. We express our gratitude to the emergency and medical personnel who have cared for them and ask for your prayers on behalf of Melissa and our family. Kurt will be greatly missed, and we ask for privacy as our family mourns and as Melissa recovers from her injuries."

One Irish person is among those injured in yesterday's London terror attack - but not seriously.

The British Prime Minister Theresa May confirmed the nationalities of the victims in a speech to the House of Commons this morning and also revealed what's known about the suspect:

Police in London have arrested eight people after yesterday's Westminster attack - even though they believe the suspect acted alone.

Six addresses have been searched - including in London and Birmingham.

They have also corrected that 4 people died in the incident and not 5 as originally thought.
