Gardaí say almost 50 credible threats to life have been averted by officers in recent months and described the number of people before the court in relation to conspiracy to murder as "unprecedented".
In the latest arrests, Gardaí detained 4 people on Saturday in connection with an alleged murder attempt. During the operation, five loaded guns were seized.
In a media briefing, Assistant Commissioner John OÂ’Driscoll said they are receiving great cooperation in targeting criminals based outside of Ireland: "We are targetting people at the highest level, and that will continue. The level of cooperation with law enforcement authorities at an international level is at its best that I have ever experienced in the Garda Siochana. And I have no doubt that that, into the future will achieve even more results."
