President Donald Trump has described the mass shooting in Las Vegas as "an act of pure evil":

It's believed the gunman was shooting down from the Mandalay Bay Hotel, and police said he was killed on the 32nd floor.

They named him as local man 64-year-old Stephen Paddock.

Kim Buckley has this report on the unfolding horror in Las Vegas:

A "person of interest" Marilou Danley (62), believed to be his roommate, has also been apprehended.

Two off-duty police officers are among those injured.

The gunman is not believed to be connected to any militant group, officers said.

Witnesses described "chaos" as thousands fled the outdoor show.

Several long bursts of automatic gunfire can be heard in video from the concert, with the first shots coming as singer Jason Aldean performed.
