Gardai in Tallaght are appealing for information on the murder of a 28 year old father of two last night.
John Gibson - a fitness instructor from the Lucan area- was shot dead in a carpark at Citywest Shopping Centre at around 9.20pm.
From Tallaght, Nicole Gernon reports:
John Gibson was sitting in his car at Citywest shopping Centre last night when another vehicle entered the car park and an attacker opened fire.
He was shot a number of times before unsuccessfully trying to escape on foot.

The assistant state pathologist and the Garda Forensic Team have examined his body and the scene, which remains partially sealed off this afternoon.

It's thought the attacker may have escaped in a Volkswagen Caddy van which was found burnt out in a nearby estate and is being examined to see whether it is the same vehicle.

Superintendent Peter Duff from Tallaght Garda station has appealed for anyone who was in the Citywest shopping Centre area between 8pm and 9.30pm or in Verschoyle Estate to contact them at Tallaght Garda Station, on the Garda Confidential Line or at any Garda Station.
Mr. Gibson is thought to have been a close friend of Darragh Nugent who was also shot dead last week but Gardai say they're keeping an open mind about the motives for this killing.
