It comes after an attack on a bus of UFC fighters in New York

Conor McGregor has been charged after handing himself into police in New York overnight.

The NYPD confirmed the MMA star has been charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief.

25-year-old Dublin MMA fighter Cian Cowley, with an address at Hyde Park in Dalkey, has also been charged in connection with the incident.

He has been charged with one count of assault and one count of criminal mischief.

McGregor was wanted for questioning in the city yesterday after an attack on a bus carrying UFC contestants.

A video has emerged claiming to show McGregor throwing a trolley which shattered the bus's window.

Fighter Michael Chiesa was hospitalised with cuts to his face.

UFC President Dana White was interviewed by TMZ about the incident last night:

Later on he condemned the incident calling it 'the most disgusting thing that has ever happened in the history of the company'.

Police said the criminal mischief charge relates to damage caused to the bus.
