Female cats are more likely to be right handed than males.
Researchers from Queen's University Belfast studied the felines in their own homes so they could observe their everyday habits.
They found that three quarters of all cats showed a paw preference when reaching for food or stepping down from something.
The boys were more likely to use their left paws, while the girls favoured their right.
