The French government has announced a six-month suspension of new fuel tax hikes.
Prime Minister Edouard Phillipe has tweeted to say "no tax deserves to endanger the unity of the Nation."

The decision to suspend the price increases comes after weeks of protests by so-called "yellow vests".
They are opposed to the move to try and reduce the country's carbon emissions.
Hundreds of people were arrested and three people died during the violence across France.
Edouard Phillipe says "These tax measures will not apply until they are debated by all stakeholders. In this time we want to identify and implement just and effective support measures. If we do not find them, we will draw the consequences."
