The move will be considered as preparations continue for Autumn Budget

Fuel prices could rise in the autumn as the government considers increasing the carbon tax.

The Taoiseach says the hike may be necessary in order for the country to meet its climate change obligations.

However, Leo Varadkar says compensatory measures will have to be made to help the most vulnerable to price increases.

The issue will have to be discussed with Fianna Fail ahead of the budget.
