Two subspecies are now listed as ‘Critically Endangered’

Giraffes are now under threat of extinction, as a number of subspecies are now being considered ‘Critically Endangered’.

Kordofan and Nubian giraffes are now just one stage away from extinction, with less than 4,650 of the animals left.

According to the International Union for Conservation of Nature report human population growth poses the largest threat to giraffe in Africa today.

The Union says illegal hunting, increasing human-wildlife conflict, and civil unrest are all factors that are pushing giraffe towards extinction.
