Family members of transgender people can get advice from others in the same situation when a new helpline opens this Sunday.
The Transgender Equality Network and LGBT Ireland have teamed up to the launch the listening and support service.
The Gender Identity Family Support Line is completely volunteer-based and will run twice a month.

Catherine Cross from TENI has a son who is transitioning and says the helpline would have been a great support for her, 'It would have been wonderful if I'd have been able to pick up the phone and speak to someone anonymously, a listening ear that would understand the struggle I was going through, it can be very isolating'.
Vanessa Lacey from Teni says the support line is not just for parents, 'It's a support line families, and families are grandparents, siblings, foster parents and for children of transgender people too'.
