Women are also twice as likely to be affected by depression than men

Ireland has the highest rate of child suicide for girls in the European Union.

That's according to a new report which has also revealed that women are twice as likely to be affected by depression than men.

The "Out of silence" report brings together the experiences of 100 women as part of a collaboration by the National Women's Council of Ireland, and Saint Patrick's Mental Health Services.

It's found that for the first time, women in some of the poorest parts of Dublin are taking their own lives in the same numbers as men.

The launch of today's report coincides with the first meeting of the Women's Mental Health Network, a new collaboration between NWCI and Saint Patrick's Mental Health Services.
