An inquest has heard Jastine Valdez died of asphyxiation.
The 24-year-old student was abducted and murdered in Wicklow seven months ago.
Ms Valdez had gotten off a bus and was walking home in Enniskerry on May 19th when she was abducted.
40-year-old Mark Hennessy had bundled her into the boot of his car, killed her and dumped her body.
He was later shot dead by a Garda in Cherrywood in Dublin.
Jastine's remains were found around 48 hours after her abduction in woodland in Rathmichael in south Dublin.
Her inquest opened this morning at the Dublin Coroner's Court, where the cause of her death was given as asphyxiation.
No members of Ms Valdez's family were present in court for the hearing, which was adjourned until next March when the family will be back in Ireland.
The inquest into Mark Hennessy's death has previously been adjourned as criminal proceedings are being considered.
