Kendrick Lamar has become the first rapper to win the Pulitzer music prize.
It's traditionally been picked up by a classical or jazz artist.
The 30-year-old songwriter was given the award for his fourth studio album - DAMN.
The prize listing describes the album as 'a virtuosic song collection unified by its vernacular authenticity and rhythmic dynamism that offers affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life.'
