There's an appeal for witnesses after a man was knocked down and killed in the early hours of this morning.
The man in his early forties was hit by a car on the M9, near Kilcullen at around 3.30am.
He was tended to by emergency services but was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car was not injured.
Gardaí investigating the collision which happened between junctions 2 and 3 on the M9 are appealing for witnesses.
Road closures are remain in place to allow collision investigators examine the crash site.
Northbound traffic is being directed off the motorway at junction 3 (Athy).
Gardaí would like to speak to anyone who may have travelled on the M9 between Kilcullen and Athy between 2.30 and 4.30am.
