The Me Too movement has led to an increase in the number of people contacting the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre, according to the CEO.
Last year 12,855 people got in touch, an increase of almost 500 on the previous year.
The DRCC accompanied over 250 people to hospital appointments, as well provided face-to-face therapy sessions to 550 people.
The details are contained in its 2017 Annual Report, which will be launched later today.
CEO of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre Noeline Blackwell says people feel more confident coming forward: We saw a big increase in the last quarter of 2017 which tied in to the same time whn the Me Too movement was starting in the US and where people were beginning to feel that they could disclose things that previously they felt wouldn't be believed'.
