It comes as supermarkets get set to slash prices in the run up to Xmas

Minimum Unit Pricing for alcohol could be brought in by the government before Christmas.

It's being said the government is considering bringing in the new law, as supermarkets prepare to cut their prices in the lead up to the festive season.

Some retailers will be selling alcohol for as little as €1 ahead of Christmas.

In order to stop this practice, the Irish Daily Mail says the government is thinking of bringing in the new laws within the next few weeks.

The bad news is that means the price of a 12 pack of cans would be hiked from €12 to €20.
