Storm Ophelia Irish has departed Irish shores, leaving three people dead and causing millions of euro in damage to homes and infrastructure.

ESB Networks say 330,000 households remain without power - and it could be days before all electricity supplies are restored.

The Department of Education says schools will remain closed on Tuesday.

Most transport operators will return to normal service, but the LUAS in Dublin won't be running until at least midday.

Drivers are being warned to continue exercising caution into tomorrow.

Sean Hogan from the National Emergency Co-ordination Centre says it's important to stay vigilant:

Leaders of the emergency efforts have expressed their sympathies to the families of those who died in the storm.

A man in his 30's died in a chainsaw accident while trying to clear a fallen tree near Cahir, County Tipperary.

A woman in her 50's was killed when a tree fell on her car in Waterford, while a third person has died after a falling tree struck a car in Ravensdale, north of Dundalk County Louth.

Despite all the warnings, The Irish Coastguard says some people are continuing to take risks - putting themselves and others in danger.
