The pony was rescued yesterday in South Dublin

A pony which was rescued by the DSPCA yesterday has passed away.

The 4 year old was found injured in a field full of rubbish in the South Dublin Area.

Inspectors found Tinkerbelle with a severely infected injury to her front leg.

DSPCA vets believe the injuries had been caused by a rope embedding itself around her leg and over time causing a deeply infected wound which possibly caused damage to her muscles and ligaments.

She also had an old injury to her neck which restricted her neck movement.

Tinkerbelle's condition deteriorated rapidly earlier today and she passed away this afternoon.

Representatives from the DSPCA say they're "glad she got to know love, cuddles, a warm bed and food, RIP our little Tinkerbelle"
