Referendum Considered on Compensation Payouts
A referendum could be on the cards to curb compensation payouts.
The Irish Independent reports the government will consider the move, if judges don't rein in awards made for whiplash.
Junior Minister Michael D'Arcy says if action isn't taken the Oireachtas will have to intervene.
Figures published this week, show the average award for a whiplash injury is just under 20,000 euro.
