The Taoiseach has doubled down on his comments that doctors should be working full whack over the Christmas break.
Leo Varadkar made the comments in the Dail yesterday as concern grows over the potential for another trolley crisis this winter.
His comments have caused division among doctors and politicians, with the President of the Irish Medical Organisation , Dr Peadar Gilligan labelling them as "misguided".
They have also been criticized as deflection to the Health Service with the Taoiseach taking none of the responsibility.
Speaking to Independent.ie in Finland today Leo Varadkar reiterated his views saying "We know peak demand happens in our health service in the first two weeks of January. No bed should be closed because people are on leave. The emergency department and medical consultants should be there".
