Two puppies have been rescued by the ISPCA after they were found amongst discarded rubbish in Co. Longford.
They were discovered after a passerby heard them cry for help close to River Inny’s red bridge in Gurteen, Ballymahon on Monday.
The rescued puppies, named Shannon and Saoirse by staff, are currently recuperating in ISPCA care.
A third puppy was found dead in the area, with the ISPCA saying it may have drowned in the nearby river.
Anybody with any information is asked to contact the ISPCA National Animal Cruelty Helpline.
