A status yellow rainfall warning is now in place for the entire country.
The warning is valid until 6 o'clock this evening, with very heavy rain forecast to fall.
Met Eireann says accumulations of around 25 to 40mm are expected but this could be exceeded in mountainous areas.
Status yellow wind awarnings have also been issued across most of the country.
Southeasterly winds will reach gusts of 90 to 110km/hr with stronger winds in exposed coastal areas and on higher ground, especially in the southeast.
