Irish head coach Joe Schmidt has cut several players from his Six Nations squad, as attention now turns to the meeting with France at the Aviva Stadium next Saturday.

With just one game in this period of the competition, it's a small squad of 34 selected by Schmidt, but there are some big calls made.

Munster's Ian Keatley is preferred to Joey Carbery in the outhalf pecking order, despite Carbery's brace of tries in Leinster's bonus point win against Edinburgh on Friday night.

Ultan Dillane is also cut from the group. It's unclear whether the Connacht second row picked up an injury in his side's win against the Dragons last night, but his place in the squad is taken by teammate Quinn Roux.

Finlay Bealham also drops out of the group, having been pipped to the back-up tighthead role by John Ryan.

Leinster's Josh van der Flier isn't included after suffering a shoulder injury on Friday, with his Leinster teammate Jack Conan also missing out.

Three Munster players lose their places in the squad, Billy Holland, Dave Kilcoyne and Rory Scannell are all omitted, while Ulster's Stuart McCloskey is also overlooked.
