Was there any decade better than the 80s? We don't think so!

To remind us all just how good it was, here's all you need to know about this week back in the disco decade.

15 August 

1987 - Michael Jackson had his third UK No.1 with the single 'I Just Can't Stop Loving You'.

A duet with Siedah Garrett, it was originally intended to be a duet between Jackson and either Barbra Streisand or Whitney Houston. Session singer Siedah Garrett also worked with Madonna.

16 August

1985 - Madonna and Sean Penn were married in Malibu, California, on her 29th birthday.

Her third studio album 'True Blue' was inspired by and dedicated to the singers hubby but the marriage was short lived as the couple divorced less than four years later.

17 August 

1983 Prince releases 'Delirious'.

Taken from the album '1999', the song went on to become Prince's second Top 10 hit in the US.

18 August 

1984 - George Michael was at No.1 on the UK singles chart with his first solo single 'Careless Whisper.'

It made George the first person to reach No.1 as a solo artist and a member of a band in the same year. It gave Epic records UK their first UK million seller and the song was No.1 in nearly 25 countries, selling over six million copies worldwide.

19 August 

1988 - 'Crazy' by Patsy Cline, and Elvis Presley's, 'Hound Dog' were announced as the most played jukebox songs of the first hundred years.

The jukebox had been around since 1906, but earlier models had been first seen in 1889.

20 August 

1980 - John Lennon began recording his final album, 'Double Fantasy'.

It would be released on November 17th by the newly-formed Geffen Records and would win the 1982 Grammy Award for Album of the Year.

21 August 

1983 - Ramones guitarist Johnny Ramone had a four-hour brain surgery operation, after being found unconscious in a New York Street where he had been involved in a fight. After a full recovery, he and the his fellow Ramones went on to gift us with amazing songs like this;
