Dare to Care
What would you do if you were dared? If you knew that what you were doing was the ultimate show of care? Care for people battling cancer, care for cancer carers. Care for those going through the most difficult time of their life?
Well, this September Today FM will Dare to Care and we want you to do the same.
We’ll push ourselves outside of our comfort zones, dare ourselves and be dared. And we'll do it to support cancer patients and their families across Ireland through the work of the Irish Cancer Society. We will do it to fund cancer researchers working tirelessly to find better ways to diagnose and treat cancer. We will do it so that people affected by cancer have the best care and support. We do it for hope of a future without cancer.
Shave or Dye started us on this amazing journey. Together with you, our listeners, we’ve raised over €7million so it's clear that we are all willing to go the extra mile when it comes to the fight against cancer.
What we’ll do
We’re going to challenge our presenters to take on a dare, something that scares them, something they wouldn’t dare do in their normal everyday life. And they’ll do it. Why? Because they care.
Ian Dempsey has shaved his head; Matt Cooper has dyed his hair hot pink. What are they willing to do this year? Who will dare Anton Savage to embarrass himself? What tough challenge can we set for Dermot & Dave?
It’s not just our presenters who will Dare to Care, we’re all going to take on a dare and we want you to do the same.
So let's get out there during September and dare our friends and family to care, have fun and fundraise for this fight back against cancer.

Remember: Daring is Caring!
Dare to Care is a fun campaign with a really great benefit. We want to raise as much money as we can for the Irish Cancer Society, but please be safe while you are doing it. Dare to Care means taking care of yourself too.
Where does all the money go?
Every day in Ireland roughly 100 people hear the words ‘you’ve got cancer’. Your Dare To Care funds will help support the thousands of families across the country affected by this disease. 95% of the Irish Cancer Society’s funding is raised by people like you, without your support these services simply would not exist.
Cancer Nurseline 1800 200 700:- Following a cancer diagnosis, patients, and their loved ones will have many questions and concerns.
- €20 can help provide support and information for anyone affected by cancer through our Cancer Nurses on our Nurseline or our website www.cancer.ie
Cancer Research: We are constantly looking for better diagnostics and treatments for cancer patients so that people diagnosed with cancer will have access to the best science available.
- €40 could allow our researchers to extract 10 DNA samples from breast cancer cells for genetic analysis.
Volunteer Driver Service: This is our free volunteer transport service so that travelling to and from the hospital is one less thing that cancer patients need to think about.
- €60 can offer 4 lifts for a patient, taking them to and from hospital for chemotherapy treatment.
Daffodil Centres: There are 13 Daffodil Centres in hospitals across Ireland. Here, anyone affected or concerned about cancer can talk to our Cancer Nurse and trained volunteers.
- €120 could provide advice and support to 6 cancer patients at one of our Daffodil Centres.
Our Night Nurses ensure that families of patients receive practical support and reassurance, and that their loved ones remain in the comfort and dignity of their own home.
- €350 provides one night of care for a patient during the last days of their life.
Together we can strive for a future where no one’s life is cut short by cancer. We won’t give up until cancer does.
