After an incredibly moving performance on Ireland's Got Talent at the weekend, Evelyn has become the latest viral sensation to hit our screens, and we've fallen for her even more after her interview with Ian on this morning's show.
Evelyn Williams is an 82-year-old Tallaght native who has been singing all her life, and when her granddaughter (who is also called Evelyn) entered her into the competition, she never dreamt it could have gone so well.
She wowed the crowd and audience at home by singing her touching version of the Stephen Sondheim track Send In The Clowns. It wasn't just the song though, it was her whole persona and the feel-good aura she emitted.
Her performance received a standing ovation, but more importantly the golden buzzer.
We gave Evelyn a call to see how she's feeling after all the hype, and she is the epitome of a breath of fresh air. Ian wasn't sure if she'd know who he was, but she wasn't long setting the record straight.
She told us a few anecdotes from her sudden fame, and they're hilarious. We also learned of the pressure she was under in having to keep it all a secret, a few potential songs for the live shows, the shock she got from the golden buzzer, her culinary skills and how you might recognise her from a long stint in a soap.
We also gave her granddaughter Evelyn a call, but would she sing us a song live on air?.
Best of luck Evelyn - we're all behind you!! #TeamEvelyn
