There was repeated clapping and cheering during the programme

RTÉ has received a number of complaints about last night's Claire Byrne Live programme, the first televised debate of the referendum campaign.

The programme, which featured debate between the Yes and No sides, saw repeated clapping and cheering as well as accusations that those on both sides were telling lies.

RTÉ has defended its handling of the debate, saying it gave an equal opportunity to both sides to express their views.

Louise Duffy and Jennifer Gannon discussed this and more in our weekly TV slot, including Israel's Eurovision win and Benedict Cumberbatch's new Sky Atlantic series Patrick Melrose.
