At last, the longest day of the year has arrived, hurrah, but it's going to be getting darker from here on in, not-so-hurray.
The Summer Solstice traditionally marks the beginning of Summer and one man who knows a lot about the pagan feast is Billy Mag Fhloinn.
Billy has a PhD in Irish Folklore and a B.A. in Archaeology from UCD, this added to his interest in the rituals and beliefs of the days gone by makes him an expert on the subject.
This morning, he chatted to Dermot and Dave about "the different flavour of pagan", the decapitation of poultry to bring good luck, what's happening across the country to celebrate the festivity and a pagan field rave in Dingle.
He's keeping the Irish tradition alive on www.tradition.ie, so check it out.
