How tomorrow's strike might affect your travel plans

Tomorrow's Ryanair pilot strike looks set to go ahead as planned, with no deal being agreed.

Today FM's Senior Reporter Juliette Gash gave us the latest developments on the story.

We were also joined by Ciara Leahy, Consumer Editor with the Irish Farmers Journal, who had some advice for those travelling to and from the UK who might be affected.

Here are some rights to be aware of if your flight is cancelled as a result of the strike:

  • Under European Regulation 261, if your flight is cancelled less than 14 days in advance you are entitled to a full refund or re-routing on the next available flight.
  • You may be entitled to meals and accommodation if applicable.
  • You are entitled to compensation up to €600 if your flight lands at its destination more than 3 hours late.
  • Under new regulations, an airline staff strike cannot be considered an extraordinary circumstance.

Ciara's final advice is to try and stay calm where possible and make sure you are armed with all the information when contacting your airline.
