The comedian Kevin Hart has stepped down as host of this year's Oscars over homophobic tweets he posted almost a decade ago.
In a statement, Hart revealed that the Academy had given him an ultimatum: to apologise for the tweets or they would find a new host.
He said he opted not to apologise as he had done so before.
