In our Monday debate, we discussed the way we talk and write about Britain, and England in particular, since the political and cultural crisis that began after the Brexit vote in 2016.

Is the close cultural connection between Ireland and the UK changing as a result, and how can the relationship be repaired?

We were joined by Selina Guinness, author of The Crocodile By the Door and lecturer in English at the Institute of Art, Design and Technology in Dun Laoghaire, writer Sinead Gleeson, whose book Constellations is turning up regularly in the best of 2019 lists, and Brendan Barrington, editor of The Dublin Review and an editor at Penguin Ireland.
