You're Only As Good As Your Last Gig?
There's a saying in the showbusiness world. You're only as good as your last gig. If that was the case in sport many would be questioning themselves after the weekend.
First up fair play to England. Better team won hands down.
Where did you watch the game?
After a week in the Alps with the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show I headed up to Munich for the weekend to a few fellow UL Alumni to take it all in and enjoy the whooping of our near neighbours and us setting down a marker for our world cup credentials.
Ahem.
Watching this on a dodgy internet stream in The Keg bar in Munich. Only 1 green jersey here...😬😬😬 #gwantheboys the locals are on our side tho!! 🇨🇮🇨🇮 I will have the German word for buffering learned off by full time by the looks of things! pic.twitter.com/MqwaIGpgAb

I was there with only 1 Irish jersey for support.
Chastening indeed.
Surrounded by a crowd of English lads, every time there was a fumble or an English score I was told 'thanks for that'.
A humorous take on the days events did present itself in the Sunday morning newspapers though.
The occasional problem of being an Irish edition of a British newspaper. I’d say a few readers of the Irish edition of the Sunday Times had a double take when they read the main piece on yesterday’s match. pic.twitter.com/keIewc0NmO

Bottom line.
Just because we were off colour against England doesn't necessarily have a bearing about events later in the calendar year.
Equally though, one positive aspect of the weekend result is that it should stop people building themselves up for a fall by saying we are going to win the world cup.
So many things have to go right to win the Six Nations or any other tournament.
So lets just all cop on and not lose the run of ourselves!
