We all love a good St Patrick's Day parade. Sure where else would you see Bridie from Down the Road on the back of a Massey Ferguson?

However, you may be up for trying something different this long weekend and if so, we've a few suggestions:

Father Ted Weekend at the Laughter Lounge in Dublin

Ah go on, go on, go on. What better way to celebrate our national holiday than with a national institution like Father Ted. All weekend at the Laughter Lounge, comedians from the show like Joe Rooney (Father Damo) and Patrick McDonnell (Eoin McLove) will take to the stage while you could also chance your arm in the Lovely Girls competition.

St Patrick's Weekend at The Stella in Dublin

The Stella Theatre in Rathmines is going all out this long weekend. Their schedule across the three days includes massive homemade films like Sing Street, Brooklyn, My Left Foot, and The Young Offenders. They're also showing films starring massive Irish actors like Saoirse Ronan's Lady Bird and Colin Farrell's In Bruges. Check out the full schedule here.

The Young Offenders Screening at The Cameo Cinema in Cork

Jock and Conor have captured the hearts of the nation with their new TV series on RTÉ2. So much so, that Cork has decided to honour the Young Offenders with a special screening of the film this St Patrick's Day. If the Saturday night doesn't suit though, they're also showing The Snapper on Friday and Ondine on Sunday. Sorted! You can book your place here.

St Patrick's Weekend at the Milk Market in Limerick

Treat yourself to some delicious brunch offers or play Giant Twister with the family at the Milk Market in Limerick this bank holiday weekend. The family-friendly market will have live traditional music, entertainers and an egg hunt across the two days. Take a look at the full list of events here

A Bodhrán masterclass in Galway

What better time to pick up the bodhrán than on our national holiday? All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil winning player Eric Marrini teaches the class this Friday and it's suitable for both beginners and those who think they're pretty handy with the bodhrán. Ideal if you're looking for a new party piece.
