David O’Doherty and Anton love gadgets and pieces of technology from the past. As they poured over the beauty of old phone boxes and a document shredder at Today FM Towers, David revealed that all he wants for Christmas is a burger phone. The beautiful, practical phones which were a staple in the Summer Bay Diner in Home & Away for years have been on his Santa list for a long, long time, but he never got one.

The author and comedian may be able to fund one by releasing a fart-based app. Speaking to Anton this morning, he thinks that farts point the way forward for apps and he wants to invent something akin to Shazam for farts – working title: Fartzam – which will identify whoever farted by displaying their picture after an unidentified, unclaimed fart is sampled.

LISTEN HERE:

Speaking of farts, the author and comedian discussed the best farters in the natural world and other astonishing revelations from his new book ‘Danger is STILL Everywhere’ which he made with renowned Irish illustrator Chris Judge (author of the ‘The Beast’ series).

Loosely linked to farts was another astonishing revelation that David spoke to several saxophone players who recorded sax for Fleur East’s ‘Sax’ but whose work does not grace the hit record!

Most listeners will know David from his free-flowing live appearances, and he is doing a run of gigs from December 17 to January 11 at Whelan’s in Dublin. He also plays The Everyman Palace in Cork on January 23. His musical pedigree is such that whilst singing and playing on the Anton Savage Show this morning, he was so groovy he got Anton to sing along. Well, when we say sing along, we meant to say ‘shouts in tune’.

David is one of Ireland's best Twitter follows, check him out here. For more on his work, check out his website here, and also his Danger alter-ego is here. Tickets for the gigs in January are on sale now from Ticketmaster outlets.

Oh, and this is a burger phone
